I do not think that Diego would be very interested in having a child since what preoccupies him most is his work and he is absolutely right. Children would take fourth place. From my point of view, I do not know whether it would be good or not to have a child, since Diego is continually travelling and for no reason would I want to leave him alone and stay behind in Mexico.

She travelled with him to San Francisco, and then to Detroit in 1932. It was there she painted her most moving work, Henry Ford Hospital, where she had had her first miscarriage. Diego, for his all his crass infidelities and appalling behaviour, was spot on when it came to the appreciation of her work and her need to express herself on the canvas:
